What Are Google Ads?

Google Ads displays your products or services to potential customers searching on Google and exactly when they are looking for them. It works on a bidding and relevancy system which we have years of experience getting results from. By using Google Ads (formerly known as Google AdWords), you can get your website to the top of Google search results, resulting in targeted traffic that are ready to purchase whatever it is that you have on offer.

Google Ads is an advertising method where you only pay every time a person clicks on your ad which can be shown on Google search result pages or the Google Display Network (GDN) based on what you choose.

Through an online console you create ads, choose targeting (like specific keywords or websites) and then set how much you are willing to pay per click (the max CPC) and how much you want to spend per day (daily budget).

You can also refine where and when you want your ads to show by choosing a location to target (like Brisbane) and the days of the week or time of day your ads will show too.

Then, whenever someone matches your audience (by either typing a keyword into Google or visiting a particular site) your ad will go into the auction using how much you were willing to pay (max CPC).

The amount you end up paying for that click depends on the level of competition in that particular auction and also the quality of your ad.

You may be able to pay less than the competition by having a high quality ad as Google rewards relevant ads with more ‘points’ (known as a quality score).

Your ad will then get ranked in the auction based on the price your willing to pay (CPC) along with the quality score you were given.

This rank will determine the order the ads show in the search results or if your ad even gets to show at all.If no one clicks on your ad, you won’t be charged and will have only gotten ‘impressions’.

One of the most common responses we hear to pay per click advertising and search engine marketing is ‘I never click on the ads in Google and I don’t know anyone that does!’
  • At least 30-40% of people actually click on Google AdWords Ads.
  • People often don’t realise they are doing it as they are often in a more purchase ready state.
  • PPC advertising on Google and within other search engines is absolutely brilliant for intercepting purchase ready users who are specifically looking for your product or service!
  • There are over 6 million searches performed on Google in Australia every day.
  • It’s important to ask yourself if you can afford to be invisible on the search engines for your most valuable keyword searches?

Advertisers nominate a maximum price they are willing to pay per click (a bid) and then a mini auction is held every time a relevant keyword is typed into a search engine or a page is loaded on a website; the ads that have the highest ‘bid’ along with the most relevance to the user will generally appear in the prime positions.

An AdWords account is officially owned, in Google’s eyes, by the person or company that is being directly billed by Google for the advertising spend. So if your credit card is on file within your Google Ads account, the account belongs to you, not your agency.

Nope, it also spans across the Google Display Network , AdMob (mobile advertising), Youtube, the Google Search Partner Network and even Yahoo!7 in Australia!

We certainly do. These include Yahoo, Bing, Baidu in China and even Yandex in Russia.
