Are you as suspicious as I am when you stumble across something that seems too good to be true?
I just couldn’t believe that this little nugget of gold was just staring me in the face (and neither could our Facebook account manager)!
When I first found about Facebook’s ‘Invite Email Contacts’ feature, I just wasn’t quite sure why this feature wasn’t making headlines for being the most cost effective, targeted way to increase followers to your page.
It’s literally as simple as 1, 2, 3.
Click ‘Invite Email Contacts’ under the ‘Build Audience’ drop down.
Click the email service you use (or alternatively, create a contact file following Facebook’s friendly instructions).
Upload your email list & go!
When you hit the ‘Send’ button, your contacts will see an email resembling the below:
Before you rush off to do this, keep in mind that the limit is for 5,000 users, so you may need to split up your database manually and upload individual files to make the most of the feature.
Additionally, really think about the best time to hit the ‘send’ button on this feature. If you already have existing email marketing campaigns, it’s definitely worth having a look at the analytics and finding the time in which your emails receive the highest number of opens.
If all else fails, the other option displayed in Step 1 is to ‘Create an Ad’. For the customers in your database who hit that ‘like page’ button, you can set up targeted advertising campaigns (so long as they use the same email address for their personal Facebook account) and encourage them to visit your Facebook page.
In this case, it’s always best to provide them with some kind of incentive to ‘like’ the page. Make your Facebook page an exclusive VIP club where membership is achieved through a simple tap of that ‘like’ button. You could run a promotion to give away products or services, or give a special discount to these targeted users.
Either way, it’s not just about gaining ‘likes’. It’s about encouraging your customers to remain engaged with your brand. How you interact with your user base (once they have allowed you into their social circle) is what will determine your social media success in the future. Just remember to keep that in mind if you do decide to roll forward with this nifty little ‘like’ building tactic.
